Beef ‘O’Brady’s and KFC will play in the Cal Ripken tournament championship game tonight after both teams emerged with victories on Thursday. It took seven innings for the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s to defeat Burgie Drug 8-7 while KFC was the recipient of a forfeit over the league champion Unicoi Blue Devils.
Colton Miller stole home on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning which allowed Beef ‘O’Brady’s to punch its ticket into the finals with a one-run victory.
Nick Hurley had a monster game for the winners, going 3-for-3 while earning the win on the mound. Hunter Johnson added a 2-for-4 performance, which included a home run. Evan Sewell had a pair of hits and an RBI. Miller, Caden Kerr and Bart Wilson were 1-for-3 each.
Tyler Stansberry, Logan Ingram, David Fleenor and Brandon Combs each had a hit for the “Medicine Men.”
KFC wins by forfeit
The Blue Devils won on the field, but lost in the book where it counted. They finished the game with a 16-6 lead that was stopped after five innings.
Unicoi had only seven players, which resulted in a forfeit for KFC.
By rule, any stats recorded in the game are void.
The Drumsticks will play in tonight’s 6 o’clock championship tilt.
