Automatic berth at stake for Tribe

The playoff picture can get very complicated this late in the year, but for Happy Valley it’s simple. A win over Sullivan North on Friday night in Bloomingdale would allow the Warriors to finish third in the Three Rivers Conference and earn an automatic berth into the postseason.

There’s an outside shot they could back in with a loss, but they would need some help in doing do.

The Warriors enter the game 2-3, 4-5 while North stands at 3-2, 5-4. Head coach Larry Shively knows what’s on the line and so does his football team. It’s a chance for some redemption and to turn around a season that has been marred by injuries to some key players.

“This is an important game, a rival game on their senior night,” said Shively. “For us it’s a chance to finish third in the league and earn our way into the playoffs. Our kids know this and they know what’s at stake. We’ve had a pretty good week of practice and look forward going over to Kingsport.”
