Assistant Public Defender Melanie Sellers is seeking a reduction in Tiffani Holston’s bond on a first-degree murder charge, which was set by Judge Robert Cupp at $50,000.

Sellers’ third motion in the case was was filed Thursday in Carter County Circuit Court.

If Holston makes the bond, however, bond had been revoked on unrelated charges.

The Carter County grand jury indicted 27-year-old Holston on Tuesday in the death of her son, 4-year-old Joshua Holston. The boy was killed when he crossed Broad Street at Lynn Avenue on Oct. 11 and was struck by a dump truck. The Elizabethton Police Department investigated and took evidence to the grand jury Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Sellers filed two motions, to restrict public comments by court and law enforcement officials and to dismiss the charges against Holston.
