Assistance and Resource Ministries’ aid list has grown from 100 to 670

It can take strong arms to provide help to hundreds of Carter County residents.
And a strong ARM.
Assistance and Resource Ministries has met community needs for 21 years, and over those years it has seen its help list grow from around 100 families to nearly 700 today.
Created in 1991 by the Carter County Ministerial Association to be a single location to refer families who came to churches in Carter County seeking assistance, ARM offers aid with food, clothing, shelter, utility bills, medicine and even rent.
ARM Director Libby Harvey said the number of families served by ARM has grown dramatically from the time she started as director in 2005. The agency now provides assistance to more than 670 families each month. In addition to the monthly food boxes, 145 families received a Thanksgiving dinner from ARM.
