JOHNSON CITY — The Lady Bucs fought back twice. There would be no third time charm.

Appalachian State, riding the strength of its press and four double-digit scorers, capped the the Lady Bucs 85-57 Tuesday evening at Brooks Gymnasium.

ETSU battled to a second-half lead after falling to a 13-point deficit in the opening frame, but didn’t have enough gas in the tank in the final 12 minutes as Appalachian State (7-1) closed the game with a 36-7 scoring run to secure its fourth-consecutive win over the former SoCon rival.

“We’re really strong in the press,” said App State coach Darcie Vincent. “Once you force those bad shots and they’re not going in, it allows you to run on the other side.

“At the 30-minute mark, teams are defined. I think they got a little fatigued on us. We made some guards do some things they don’t typically like to do. They were missing shots and having to work hard.”
