The eighth bi-annual Newell Hendershot Watermedia Exhibition will be held at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park in Elizabethton from Thursday, Aug. 1, through Wednesday, Aug. 28.

The exhibition will feature a closing reception from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25.

Participating artists belong to at least one of the following Tennessee art organizations: Bristol Art Guild, Kingsport Art Guild, Tennessee Watercolor Society or Watauga Valley Art League.

The exhibit’s aim is to promote water media and participation in these organizations in East Tennessee. It was named in honor of two late watercolorists, Carol Hendershot and Polly Newell, who diligently worked with the WVAL to  spread the love of art in Northeast Tennessee.

A Watermedia Workshop is scheduled for Aug. 23-24 and end on Sunday, Aug. 25, with a 1:30 p.m. demonstration by the workshop artist (to be announced) followed by the closing reception.
The public is invited to enjoy the exhibit and the festivities on Aug. 25.
