Mr. and Mrs. Claude Andrews celebrated golden anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Claude Andrews celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Thursday, November 17, 2011.

They were married November 17, 1961 in Newland, N.C., by the Avery County Justice of the Peace, Finley Banner.

Mrs. Andrews is the former Orah Lee Oakes.

Claude served in the United States Army and worked many years at North American Rayon Corporation.

Orah Lee served her family as a loving mother and homemaker until her children were grown. She returned to the work force and later retired from Shadowline in Boone, N.C.

The couple have three children: two sons, the late Dayton Joseph Andrews, and Michael Andrews and daughter-in-law, Rachel, and a daughter, Julia Lewis and son-in-law, Freddy.

They have six grandchildren, Joseph, A.J. and Olivia Andrews, Cody Waldrop, Brent and Matthew Tipton.

The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with dear friends and family at Piney Grove Church of Christ.
