Investigator Trevor Salyer said officers had been dispatched to the Dollar General Store at 100 Okolona Road on Sunday, Oct. 28, regarding an armed robbery. The alleged robbery victim, Joshua Hampton, 25, of Gastonia, N.C., told officers he had been hanging out with a friend and dropped him off at a residence in Johnson City on Wilson Avenue.

Hampton said that after dropping his friend off, he learned his friend had forgotten his belongings. According to an affidavit, Hampton advised that he was then supposed to meet an individual at the Dollar General Store and give him his friend’s belongings. Hampton told officers the male subject pulled into the parking lot in a silver SUV. Hampton said there were two people in the front seats, so he got into the back seat and closed the door.
