Agency hopes to lure input on river management
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is angling for the public’s input for the first time regarding the management of the Watauga River in Carter County.

The state agency has scheduled a public meeting for Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Carter County Courthouse.
“This will be the first meeting we’ve ever had for the management of the Watauga River,” said TWRA Region 4 Fisheries Manager Bart Carter.
The TWRA, Carter said, is trying to find whether there are any issues with the river and its management.
“We are trying to take a more proactive approach to the issues, instead of being reactive,” he said.
When issues have come up in the past, the TWRA has responded to the issues after hearing about them.
