Actor Jason Clarke promotes latest film at BMS

BRISTOL — Australian actor Jason Clarke has promoted television and film projects before, but nothing quite like his duties this past Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Himself an open wheel, Lotus Cup driver, Clarke, who stars alongside Hollywood heavyweights, Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy, in the new film Lawless did his work inside a Ford pace car, leading the NASCAR Sprint Cup field to the starting line during the Irwin Tools Night Race at BMS.

“I loved it,” Clarke said in an interview Saturday with the STAR. “I didn’t go fast enough, and I didn’t do enough laps. That was my only gripe. I would love — we had a Ford and it was nice — but I would love to hammer down in something.”

Still, Clarke seemed wildly enthusiastic about his experience at Bristol.
