The Carter County Emergency Communications District board of directors placed the final piece of the puzzle on Wednesday when it approved an agreement to continue Carter County Rescue Squad dispatch at 911.

The 911 board unanimously approved a contract with the rescue squad, one month after the same board began the process of sending dispatch services back to the squad.

“No calls are going to go unanswered,” 911 board Chairman Matt Bailey said. “They’re going to be out there doing the same thing they have been doing all along.”

Wednesday’s approval was the final step for the 911 board in its efforts to bring the agency back in compliance with the Tennessee Emergency Communications Board. Carter County 911 had previously been declared at risk of becoming financially distressed by the state board and has scrambled to find ways to increase revenues.
