Babe Ruth: Eagle Center, Friendship prevail


While Eagle Center kept rolling, Horace Mann Insurance had a rough Thursday night in Elizabethton National Babe Ruth baseball action.
The Friendship Auto Braves, meanwhile, picked up their first victory. In the opener at EHS, Friendship took down Mann 11-9.
In the finale, Eagle overwhelmed Mann 6-1.

The Braves built a commanding 11-5 cushion by the third inning, before holding on.
Mann’s Scotty Oliver batted 4 for 4 and stole two bases. Daniel Runion was 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Zack Shiflett shined brightest in the nightcap, batting 3 for 4 with two RBIs.
Shiflett also struck out 10 over six innings. He was touched for five hits, gave up the earned run, and walked five with four wild pitches.
