Nearly five months after her arrest on charges of felony child neglect and murder in the death of her 4-year-old son, Tiffani Holston was released from the Carter County Jail Friday on bond, but will now face incarceration on a charge in Washington County.
Incarcerated since her arrest on Nov. 14, Holston received a stern warning from Criminal Court Judge Robert Cupp before he reinstated her bond on previous drug and theft charges and released her under the same $5,000 bond from the charges that stem from Oct. 11, when her son, Joshua, was struck and killed by a dump truck on Elizabethton’s Broad Street.
“Keep your nose clean,” Cupp told her. ”You’ve got some very serious charges here; stay away from drugs.”
Police allege Holston was under the influence of three different prescription drugs when Joshua was killed. The presence of drugs in her system is the basis for the district attorney’s pursuit of felony child neglect and murder convictions.
