Keith Lynn Brummitt, 31, was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and evading arrest after Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents presented the finding of their investigation to the grand jury.

According to police reports of the incident, on Nov. 13, Carter County Sheriff’s Department deputies were attempting to serve warrants on Brummitt in the parking lot of the Dollar General Store on the Milligan Highway, but when he spotted them, the officers said Brummitt ran into the treeline off Okolona Road.

CCSD Deputy Ross Frizzell caught up to Brummitt and a struggle ensued, during which Frizzell shot the man in the shoulder.

Brummitt was immediately transported to the Johnson City Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.

Because an officer was involved in the shooting, the TBI was called in to investigate.

Brummitt, who was already incarcerated in the Carter County Jail on unrelated charges, was assigned a $30,000 bond.
