The EFD received the $5,000 Bucket Brigade grant from Georgia-Pacific earlier this week. In addition to the grant, Georgia-Pacific will pay the EFD’s dues to the National Volunteer Fire Council for one year and will provide additional fire prevention materials to the EFD.

EFD Chief Barry Carrier said Fire Marshal Jack Buckles applied for the grant after learning about the extra funding opportunities.

“This is going to more than double the budget we have available for fire prevention education materials,” Carrier said. “We see over 2,000 children a year to teach about fire prevention.”
