One of Elizabethton’s busiest intersections came to a standstill Thursday afternoon as emergency personnel worked frantically to save 4-year-old Joshua Holston, who was struck and killed when he stepped into the path of a dump truck.
As distraught onlookers gathered to watch and pray, some, like Shon Blevins and Shirley Pressnell, leapt into action to help save the child. The employees of Pine Ridge Care & Rehabilitation Center were driving by when the accident happened and immediately exited their car and began CPR before emergency personnel arrived, working diligently to save Joshua.
The boy was later pronounced dead at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
