4 teachers inducted into Educators Hall of Fame9:24 am | October 23, 2012
Four teachers, two from the Carter County School System and two from the Elizabethton City School System, were inducted into the Carter County Imagination Library Educator’s Hall of Fame during the Carter County Imagination Library’s Harvest Celebration Dinner Saturday night.
From the Carter County system, Janice Ericson and the late Zola Shankle were the honorees, and Mary Emma Brown and the late Anna Kinch were the honorees from Elizabethton City Schools.
Ericson taught in the Carter County School System for her entire career after graduating from East Tennessee State University. She started her career at Unaka Elementary but decided to move to the high school level. She returned to ETSU and got a degree in secondary education. She worked at Unaka High School and Happy Valley High School. She taught English and Spanish and also worked in administration.
